We are His.

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

- Isaiah 43: 1-2

For someone who dabbles in worry and fear as a hobby, I have really had to work hard at ridding myself of this extracurricular activity of mine. As I have grown in my walk with Jesus, I have seen how He instructs us often in scripture not to fear. I am certainly not cured of my ability to worry or fear. However, I actively work harder at not focusing on the “what ifs” of life. I actively work on capturing those thoughts and cling to scripture when I start to fear. I love the fact that scripture tells us 365 times not to fear. How helpful and handy is that?! A reminder for every day of the year! Through the inspired word of God, we are told at least 365 times that we aren’t supposed to fear. When we actively put trust in God’s promises fear will lose its power. We have plenty of opportunities these days, with all that is going on in the world and maybe in your life, to focus on a scripture and give it a try.

We can repeat His promises back to Him. He has redeemed us, He knows us by name, we are His and He will be with us.
