Putting on the Armor of God

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ”For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” - Ephesians 6:10-13

Back to school sales, tax free weekends as well as the well-stocked store shelves with plenty of erasers, pencils, folders and notebook paper. All of the signs of back to school. Back to school can also mean, back to a routine and back to more structure in our homes. Structure and order are good things and very helpful for a person like me who tends to do much better with the confines of a schedule.

I think structure and order can also be helpful for us in our prayer lives as we prepare to send our children or grandchildren back to school or college. This month, we are going to focus on preparing our loved ones as they go back to school.

So, however this looks for your child, whether it be back to grade school, college, graduate school or work, we all can pray for our loved ones and pray to strengthen them as they go off for school.

This scripture is so comforting for me as I focus on the fact that the Lord did not leave us unequipped here on earth as we wait for His return. I love that He was so specific and so intentional with this scripture that no part of our physical body is left unprotected. No part of our spiritual wellbeing is left exposed. He is clear on what weapons we need and how to use them.  We will focus on arming our loved ones with the various pieces of the armor the Lord has provided for us.

Praying for our children and grandchildren is one of the most important things we can do each day when we send our loved ones out into the world. It is vital that we keep them covered in prayer.
