Finding the Strength of God
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”- Ephesians
At the end of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul is purposeful in his conclusion to tell the people where to go for their strength and for their help. What a gift and blessing that the same strength and might are still available to us today. We can pray that our loved ones will go to God for their strength and for His might. If they are too young to have made that decision for themselves, we can pray that they will come to know the Lord and will accept Christ as their Lord and Savior so that they can have this power and might at their disposal and for their help and protection. If our loved ones have accepted Christ, we can pray that they will be reminded and will tap into this great source of protection each day.
The NIV translation of Ephesians 6:10 says “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
The NKJV translation of the same verse says “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
I love the imagery these two translations evoke. I love to focus on the fact that the creator of the universe makes His mighty power available to us. The same power that made the beauty we see and enjoy today on earth. Many of you may have gone on vacation this summer, to some beautiful parts of the world. Maybe you stood in awe of a beautiful beach or a magnificent mountain range. The creator of that beauty has power. Mighty power to create such wonderful treasures for us to enjoy while we are here. I found a note I had written in my bible near this scripture and I wish I had written down who said it, and it says the first three chapters of Ephesians are all indicative of what God has done, what He is doing or what He will do. The following chapters 4-6 are written in the imperatives of what we are supposed to do with what God has given us. We are to DO these things, live it out and align our lives to it. The key is we must rely on this might and power each day. It doesn’t happen for us passively. We must draw on the help and aid of this mighty creator!
We need to pray that our loved ones will know where to go and that they will go each day to get their strength and their power from our mighty creator!
