God can use you.
The Son of God left the glory of heaven to be born in a manger.
- Greg Laurie
Yesterday’s post discussed Luke 1:28-33, where the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and explained to her, her heavenly assignment. On Sunday, I heard a message about this very passage by Greg Laurie of Harvest Church in Riverside, California. He had some great points that he taught about in this scripture. Here are some of the notes I took from his message “With God, Nothing is Impossible.”
Mary was living a godly life in an ungodly place:
She was in Nazareth which was an unholy place to live. God was able to use her despite her location. So, no matter where we are or where we live, God can use us. He gave the example of students who might be in colleges where their faith is mocked or cities that aren’t the most God honoring places. God can use anyone from anywhere.
Mary was a young person and God used this young woman to change the world:
God can use anyone, despite their age. Even though the bible doesn’t specifically state her age, commentaries believe she was around 15-16 years of age at the time. In Timothy 4:12 scripture says “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young.” Greg Laurie said “God chose this unknown girl who lived in an unknown city to bring about the most known event in all human history.” I love to think that we can encourage those young people in our lives that God can use them to further His kingdom now!Mary obeyed and magnified God:
We too can be obedient and magnify the Lord today! Our call will not look like Mary’s, however, no matter where we are or what age we are, young or old, we too can be used by God for His glory and His kingdom purposes. All we have to do is be obedient and magnify the Lord while we do what He has called us to do.
